My Design Process
Consultation
We’ll have an initial meeting to discuss the project, so I can evaluate what is required. After the consultation, if you wish to proceed with the design process, the following is my preferred way to work.

Pre-Consultation Questionnaire
I’ll send you a questionnaire to get some basic information about your garden and project goals.

Site Survey & Analysis
I’ll measure the plot, document sight lines and aspect, take soil readings and note down significant factors. The time required will vary based on size and complexity of the space. For a large garden I recommend a detailed full topographical survey by a specialist third party surveyor.

Estimate
I will prepare and estimate to take the work forward. Depending on your needs, the project may include some or all of the following:

Phase One

Consultancy. Benefit from expert advice and extensive knowledge, even if you choose not to proceed with a design service. You will receive valuable insights on planting ideas, hard landscaping suggestions, and design principles

Research & mood boards. Explore the possibilities for your garden through visually captivating mood boards, filled with recommendations and design options for your garden's overall look and plant selection

Concept plan. Envision the future of your garden with an annotated drawing, illustrating the design proposal and offering a glimpse into its potential transformation

Detailed plans. The complete visualisation of your garden, with meticulous design drawings, which may include elevations, perspectives and/or axonometric views as required

Planting plans. Comprehensive visual planting design plan, showing exact locations of each plant, along with individual plant names

Plant Schedule. Detailed plant schedule of quantities and sizes for selected plants, for smooth for sourcing and pricing process

Plant Sourcing. Researching plant availability, and purchasing suitable specimens at specialist wholesalers

Maintenance Plan. Detailed instructions on caring for each plant species, tailored to your garden's unique needs

Lighting Plan. Illuminating your garden's beauty with thoughtfully designed lighting plans, enhancing its ambience during the evening hours.

Construction drawings & setting out plans. Scaled drawings for setting out, available for landscapers' tendering or construction. If desired, we can connect you with trusted landscapers or contractors

Project Monitoring and Support. Enjoy ongoing support as I regularly monitor the project, check in on the build's progress, and maintain open communication with you and the landscapers. While I do not project manage garden builds, my assistance ensures a smooth and successful realisation of your dream garden.
